An attractive large growing Liquidambar with unusual, deeply cut, foliage that colours well during late autumn. Well suited to large areas of public open space, or large gardens where space permits. A good deciduous tree selection for warmer regions.

Pyramidal when young, becoming oval to rounded.
The lustrous deep green foliage is exceptionally deeply cut and dark green in colour. Autumn colour ranges from deep burgundy to red. Full sun gives the best autumn colour.
Inconspicuous. Emerging with the leaves in spring. Male and female flowers are separate on the same plant (monoecious).
Tolerates a wide range of conditions including wet sites, but performs best in moist, slightly acid soil and full sun. Leaf chlorosis may occur if planted in soils of high pH. Best where there is adequate space for ample root development. Avoid planting near drains. May be slow to recover from transplanting.

Each tree will be installed in a hole double the size of the tree’s bag, with a minimum of 30 litres of our recommended soil mix and a specific slow and/or fast release fertiliser (depending on the trees’ requirements) applied at the time of planting.
After installation, the trees will be heavily watered in and if required, trees will be staked to protect them from harsh winds and ensure they maintain their shape until they establish.
